Latest Updates:

  • December 2015: The concrete path has been poured, making the area more handicap accessible and creating an appealing space where people have gathered to read and relax this summer on the colorful Adirondack chairs. Village Volunteer Park was transformed for the Fairy Parade for the Garden Walk and into Candy Cane Lane for the Village Tree Lighting. More upgrades will be added next season as time and funding becomes available
  • June 2015: Please “Pardon Our Dust” as crews prepare to pave a new concrete path on Friday, July 3 or Monday, July 6. The concrete work on the pathway should be complete by Thursday, June 9 and new plantings should be complete by mid-July
  • 2015: Village Volunteer Park will be “formalized” with comfortable seating, new pergolas, game tables, meeting spaces and enhanced landscaping. Mulch path will be replaced by exposed aggregate and broomed concrete, making the path compatible with the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA)
  • 2014: A piano was donated by Pianos in Public Buffalo and the library placed a book cart outside so that Village Volunteer Park could become a reading oasis and place of respite
  • 2013: Pavement was broken up and replaced by plantings from the tactical urbanism Spring Street event, mulch and vintage wooden benches. This resulted in a safer pedestrian environment around the Williamsville Library and encouraged people to park behind Village Hall and walk to Main Street during events


  • A key component of the Picture Main Street plan, which called for “a continuous Village commons, where people can meet and escape the sound volumes of Main Street.”
  • Village Volunteer Park eliminated an unnecessary curb cut and a driveway that was dangerous to pedestrians entering and exiting the Williamsville Library, particularly children
  • Park was constructed by utilizing a balance of Department of Public Works and volunteers’ labor to break out the asphalt and put in new plantings and amenities
