Village of Williamsville Awarded $50,000 Through State’s Clean Energy Communities Program

The Village of Williamsville is pleased to announce that in December 2024, we were awarded $50,000 through the State’s Clean Energy Communities Program, which is administered by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA). This grant will help the Village further contribute to New York’s transition to clean energy and improving energy efficiency across the state.

The Clean Energy Communities Program supports local governments in their efforts to transition to clean, renewable energy and reduce carbon emissions. The program provides funding, technical assistance, and recognition for communities that lead the way in implementing clean energy initiatives.

With the $50,000 grant, the Village of Williamsville has conducted a comprehensive energy audit on its Department of Public Works (DPW) building, which serves as both a garage and office space for the village’s crew chief. We are currently awaiting the findings of that study and its recommended actions. The energy audit findings will guide the Village in making informed decisions about which energy efficiency measures will provide the greatest benefit in reducing energy use, improving comfort, and lowering costs for long-term sustainability. The remaining funds will be used to implement the recommended upgrades, ensuring that the building operates more efficiently and supports the Village’s broader sustainability goals.

The Village of Williamsville is proud to be part of a growing network of local governments in New York State committed to clean energy solutions. By improving the energy efficiency of its buildings and operations, the Village is contributing to a cleaner, greener future for all its residents.
