Williamsville Fire Department looking to add new volunteers

Have you ever dreamed of becoming a firefighter? Well, now may be your chance! The Village of Williamsville’s Fire Department is 100% volunteer, and looking to recruit new members. The Fire Department is a full service department providing fire suppression, emergency medical services, technical rescue of all types, including auto accident victim extrication, water rescue, low angle rescue, and response during weather-related emergencies.

Fire protection in Williamsville dates back to 1835 with organization of the first formal fire department within the village taking place in 1856. This pioneering group was known as “Rough and Ready Fire Engine Company No. 1.” The name was changed to the Hutchinson Hose Company in 1908 and remains the incorporated name of the department today.

With benefits like tuition reimbursement, annual health checkups and tax breaks from New York State, this is one volunteer position that certainly pays in other ways! Not to mention giving back to your community, helping your friends and neighbors – and adding a truly heroic line to your resume.

Anyone aged 16 and up may apply. Volunteers aged 16-18 are considered Junior Firefighters, and 18+ are considered Volunteer Firefighters. Those interested can apply online and will be contacted directly by the Fire Chief.

Thank you to all those who serve our community!
